Max Tobin brings experience across international diplomacy, industry advocacy and parliamentary offices, with a particular focus on energy and resources policy. In his previous role as an Economic Adviser at the Embassy of Japan in Australia, he advised on Australian trade and energy markets, including LNG and minerals exports, domestic gas security and environmental regulatory frameworks.
Max also served as a staffer to senior members of the Federal Coalition, including the Hon Angus Taylor MP, Shadow Treasurer of Australia, and Jason Falinski MP, Chair of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics. In these roles, he supported economic policy development, parliamentary strategy and stakeholder engagement across key fiscal, regulatory and market reform agendas, gaining experience working with Ministers’ offices, crossbench MPs and parliamentary committees.
Previously, Max worked with Australian Energy Producers in external affairs and policy roles, supporting political engagement strategies, ministerial and stakeholder engagement, and policy development across issues including First Nations consultation, lower-carbon fuels, carbon capture and storage, and EPBC reform.
